Kalbi is a Korean style grilled short rib. It’s a very delicious and tender cut of beef that cooks up very fast. Using a few simple ingredients, this is a recipe that we know you’ll enjoy. Let’s get started!
You will need:
- 2 – 3 lbs Korean style beef short ribs, soaked in cold water 30 min to draw out blood
- 1 asian pear (or 2 bartlett pears) peeled and pureed
- juice from half a lemon
- 1T brown sugar
- 1/2 white or yellow onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1T fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup sesame oil
- 1/4t red pepper flake
- 1 cup soy sauce
In a large mixing bowl, combine the marinade ingredients and mix well. Put the meat in to a large container or ziplock bag and add the marinade. Distribute the marinade throughout the meat and set aside in the fridge for at least an hour (overnight for best results). Grill on medium high heat for about 3 min per side. Serve with steamed rice and kimchi and enjoy!
